(Rec. February 26, 7.30 p.m.) Cape Town, February 25.
Captain Malcolm Campbell was returning from the Verneuk Pan when his aeroplane crashed. He suffered facial injuries to his nose and lips, necessitating stitches. The aeroplane, in taking off, hit a tree and nosedived, and became a complete wreck. The pilot was unconscious. The Pan, it is stated, requires much preparation for a speed test, and it is estimated that the trial cannot eventuate for a month.
