A depression is passing away east of the South Island. The anti-cyclone covering northern New Zealand and the northern Tasman Sea is

losing intensity. Moderate to fresh winds between south-west and west, gradually veering to north-west and northerly south of New Plymouth and East Cape. Seas rather rough about Cook and Foveaux Straits; elsewhere in New Zealand waters moderate. Moderate west, later veering to northerly winds in the eastern Tasman Sea, with moderate seas. Further scattered showers in Westland and at first in the southern districts; otherwise weather fair to fine, with warm temperatures.
