CABLE REPAIRS
IRIS SHIP’S CABLE. The cable steamer Iris, which arrived at Wcllingtoii on Monday evening from Auckland, loaded 164 miles of submarine cable from the Post and Telegraph Department’s stores neai the Pipitea Wharf preparatory to going out to repair two breaks in the cable between Lyall Bay and White Bay and a fault in the cable between Otoronga and White Bay. The vessel is to leave Wellington at 6 o’clock this morning for Cook Strait.
