“ALL-MOVIETONE" PROGRAMME. Of great interest, is the announcement that the Paramount Theatre in Wellington is to open with the new sensational entertainments, the "Talkies,” on Friday. Marell 8, in which event that popular house will gain the distinction of presenting the first all-movietone bill to be seen and heard iu the Dominion. The programmes to be presented during successive weeks arc.’ without, exception, all those that have been, and arc now being, presented to attendances in Sydney and Melbourne. Much ot the credit for this unique state of affairs goes to Fox Movietone Corporation, who, under the direction of William Fox, the president, are the acknowledged loaders in this remarkable field of entertainment. Their enterprise and remarkable foresight resulted in their making over a dozen feature length pictures. In addition to a multitude of short subjects, including comedies, novelty, and specialty films, and Fox Movietone Gazettes nearly a year ahead of any other film company operations In the world, with the consequence that, when the inevitable "talkie boom" commenced in America, Fox productions, with complete supporting programmes, were being presented in hundreds of theatres before any competing companies had started production. Therefore it was natural that when theatres in Australia and New Zealand made urgent requisitions for both “talkie” installations and films, this enterprising corporation was in lhe position to furnish both sections of the new wonder entertainments. Y’ou will hear James Melton and the Roxy Theatre male chorus of 40 singing “Angela Mia,” the theme song, during the screening of “Street Angel,” Box plans will open next Friday morning at the Bristol and Utility (next theatre), when, ft is anticipated, there will be a heavy demand for seats.
