SOUNDS EXCURSION
LAST TRIP OF SEASON. Saturday afterpoon saw a happy band of excursionists leave Wellington on the Tamahine for a week-end tour of the famous Marlborough Sounds. The boat was gay with bunting and presented a truly festive appearance. Plctop was reached around 4.3 Q p.m., when the excursion began in earnest. After most of the people had "done” the town they returned to the ship, and in the evening a dance was held on deck to the music of the Kit Kat Band, the ship presenting a very pretty sight with its decorations of coloured electric lights. At World's End, the extremity of Pelorous Sound, to which place the Tamahine had steamed by yesterday morning, conditions were perfect, and an early start was made in the ship’s boats for the various trips offered the excursionists. Everything went well, as was evident by the happiness of the parties on their return to the ship, A call was made at Ship Cove, in order to afford passengers a glimpse of the monument to Captain Cook, Picton being reached on the return at 5 p.m. The trip was thoroughly enjoyed by all and was described as one of the best ever made by the ship. This was the last excursion for this season, and it is safe to say that many will look forward to next summer, when it is to be hoped that these popular week-end excursions will again be made a feature of the holiday season. In the absence of Mr. W. Hancock arrangements were In the hands of Mr. H. F. Norman, whose supervision of all the boating trips and pastimes helped to make the excursion the success Chat It was.
