SCOTS COLLEGE

VISITED BY THEIR EXCELLENCIES. On Monday afternoon, Their Excellencies Sir Charles and Lady Alice Fergusson paid a visit to Scots College. They were met by the principal (Mr. J. H. Murdoch), and the chairman (Mr. J. S. Martin) and vice-chairman (Rev. A. B. Todd) of the board. After seeing the pupils at work in the classroms, Their Excellencies made a tour of inspection of the buildings. In his address to tfiq assembled school, His Excellency stressed the duty of every boy to uphold, by his conduct, the good name of the school, and to assist iu building up a sound tradition. He particularly stressed the need for self-reliance—one of the outstanding characeristicg of their Scottish ancestors, and ended with a request for a holiday. The principal briefly replied on behalf of the school. Their Excellencies were afterwards entertained at afternoon tea by Mrs. Murdoch,
