Auckland Competitions Society in connection with the festival held last August. A prizewinner’s complaint, referred to officials of the; society to-day, was met with the reply that a meeting of the executive wilt be held in about a week’s time to discuss ' the financial position. It is admitted . .that although competitors have come' forward freely, the public patronage"of the'annual competitions has been disappointing In recent years. The society has recently been carrying on with a bank overdraft of £3OO but no difficulty was anticipated in -providing the prizes until the matter of the' settlement of an old account for a considerable sum arose. The work of the Society is' almost entirely honorary
