MUTT VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL

BOARD OF GOVERNORS’ MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Board of Governors of the Hurt Valley High School was held ou Friday evening. There were present 2dr. E. r. Bish worth (chairman), Messrs. C. \V. B. Callender, D. A. Ewen, H. G. T’eagle, G. T. London, and the principal (Mr. H. I’. Kidson). Mr. A. J. A. Grimwood was appointed to the position of treasurer to the board. The principal reported that twenty pupils of the school had passed (he matriculation examination, nnd three had gained Senior National Scholarships in the past year. Tlie principal considered that the school hud done very well. A letter of thanks is to be sent to the Parents’ Association for its gift to the school of a baloptieon. A tentative appointment was made of a D grade male teacher from seventy-eight applicants. The appointment is subject to its being warranted by the increase in roll number. The increase, however, is expected to be such that the appointment of two extra teachers (the other a lady) may be necessary. It was reported that, as stated at the breaking-up ceremony in December, a donation of £lOOO would be forthcoming from the late Mr. Henry Baldwin towards an assembly hall, to be known as the “Henry Baldwin Assembly Hail.” Representations are to be made to (lie Minister of Education (the lion. H. Atmore) to see if the board cannot get some financial help from the Government.
