THE PICTON EXCURSION

The Union Steam Ship Company s turbine steamer Wahine left XVellington at 5.5 a.m. yesterday with 1496 excursionists for Picton. Ideal weather prevailed on the run across Cook Strait although there was a considerable southerly swell. The vessel arrived at Picton at 10.45 a.m., and the holiday-makers went ashore to hold picnic parties, end indulge iu swimming, fishing, and other sports. The return trip was commenced
