GIRL CITIZEN CONFERENCE.

The morniijg programme of the Girl Citizen Conference at Nga Tawa College, on Saturday, consisted of Bible study groups, who considered Deborah as a woman citizen. At the council, Miss Nancy Gardner, of New Plymouth, was elected chief citizen of the conference. In the afternoon, the whole conference was photographed, as well as the groups of eurythmics, music, choric speaking, and poster making. The second part of the cup events was a dramatics contest, which took place in the evening. The six communities were given the story of the Good Samaritan to dramatise. Both ancient and modern interpretations were presented with great originality of costume and setting, and dramatic feeling. The judges, Miss O. Russell, Miss Delight Lynn, and Miss Wilkie, awarded first place to Christchurch, second to Palmerston North,, and third to Auckland. On Sunday morning, the citizens, in uniform, attended divine service at St. Stephen’s Church, in Mayton, when the Rev. B. zkshcroft preached an appropriate sermon on citizenship. In the afternoon, Miss Clodagh Russell held a demonstration with her class of choric speaking, and gave some readings of her own. The song contest was held in the evening, at which communities sang songs of their own composition. First place was won by New Plymouth, second by Auckland, and third tied by Palmerston North and Christchurch. Before vespers, the camp mother, Mrs. Ernest Dawson, of Wellington, talked to the girls on the purpose of the Girl Citizen Movement, "that Girl Citizens, through beauty and truth, may help to build the spirit of their country.” TOUR LUCKY NUMBER.
