PERSONAL ITEMS.

Mrs. Douglas, wife of Mr. William Douglas, general manager for Sir Benjamin and Mr. John Fuller, and the members of her family, arrived from Sydney by the Marama on route to Invercargill. They left for the South last night. Lieut.-Commander G. Harper, who has been visiting Mrs. Arthur Harper, “The Hill,” Karori, has rejoined his ship I-I.M.S. Diomede, at present in Auckland. Mr. M. Myers, K.C., and Mrs. Myers will leave to-morrow for a visit to Sydney. Mrs. Hutchings and her daughter leave for a holiday in Woodville today. Mr. and Mrs. R. Aicken, of Wellington. are visiting Auckland. Dr. and Mrs. L. D. Cohen returned to Wellington by the Remuera. Miss Madeline Vyner, of Wellington, is the guest of Miss Hilda Montgomery, “Wairewa,” Little River, Canterbury. Mr. and Mrs. Norman Little (Wellington) are the guests of Mrs. George Fox, in New Plymouth. Mrs. I. Taylor, Wellington, is the guest of Mrs. C. Purser, Hawera.

Mrs. Frank Reading spent. Christmas in Dunedin with her father, Sir John Sinclair.

Mr. and Mrs. P. Cook, who have been at Paraparaumu, have returned to Wellington. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Bower (nee Newell), of Paraguay, ate on a holiday visit to New Zealand to see their sou, who is farming in Canterbury.

Mrs. Grace Gillon has left for a trip to England.

Miss Cathrene Nixon has returned to Wellington from Hawke’s Bay, spending (a few days in Palmerston North on the way down. .Miss S. Kenne y, Sydney, is the guest of Mrs. E. Forrest, Eastbourne. Mr. and Mrs. A. E. SandraJ, of Wellington, are visiting Auckland.

Mr. and Mrs. Desmond Newton, Wellington, are visiting Christchurch. Mrs. E. W. Smythe, Adelaide Road, and her daughter, Peggy, have left for a visit to Dr. and Mrs. Smythe, Picton.

Miss M. Dyer, Inspector of Domestic Science in the Education Department, will leave for Sydney to-morrow en route for England, where she will spend a year’s leave. Mia. Dyer will travel through India en route. Miss Saidee Bryant and Mr. G. Bryant, “Warrendene,” Ohariu, are on a holiday visit to Christchurch. Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Doughty, of Wellington, are spending a fortnight’s holiday in the Morere Thermal District, and are guests at the Morere Hot Springs Hotel. Mr. and Mrs. Fred. Fauvel, of Wellington, are guests at the Morere Hot Springs Hotel.

Mr. and Mrs. Peterkin, Hill Street, are visiting Pahiatua, and are the guests of their daughter, Mrs. Hart Udy. Miss E. N. Penn returned by the Marama yesterday from Australia, after a visit to her mother at Bur-ton-on-Trent, Staffordshire, England. Mr. and Mrs. C. Harbottle returned by the Remuera from a visit to England. Mrs. C. Izard returned to New Zealand by the Remuera after a visit to England. Mrs. Mitford has gone to Auckland with her son, Dr. Bertram Mitford, who will leave from that port on the Port Wellington, for England, where he will continue his medical studies.
