JOHNSON THRASHES GILLESPIE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. (Rec. December 30, 5.5 p.m.) Sydney, December 30. At the Stadium last night Kid Johnson, feather-weight and light-weight bantam of the Orient, made his first appearance and gave Norman Gillespie a terrible battering, usin" both hands like a thrashing machine. He dropped Gillespie for 9 in the first round. He again dropped his' opponent in the second for six, when the police stopped the contest, Johnson being declared *he winner.
SHARKEY AND STRIBLING MATCHED. (United Service.) (Rec. December 30. 11.5 p.m.) .New York, December 36. Tex Rickard has matched Sharkey and Stribling for February 27 at Miami Beach. The winner will probably meet Dempsey for the championship.
