MOTORS IN PAWN

LARGE GARAGE WANTED IN PARIS

(Australian Press Association.) (Rec. December 30, 5.5 p.m.) Paris, December 29. Motor-cars and motor-cycles are fast becoming as numerous as the time-hon-oured watch for the purpose of pledging. The municipal pa-wnshop to-day requested the Paris Council to vote £75,000 to erect a three-story garage to house the cars. Thus far 600 are in pawn, there being no fewer than 190 pledged this year. Another use for the motor-car is reported from Rome, the owner jelling his car to a cafe proprietor for ten thousand coffees. The cafe is bound to provide the coffee to the seller or his friends as often as requested. It is calculated that it will take between six and eight, years to pay off the debt.
