CRICKET

CUP MATCH ABANDONED

Palmerston North, December 29. Owing to the bad weather, the Hawke's Bay-Manawatu Hawke Cup cricket match was abandoned, the visiting team returning home to-day. As the Hawke Clip rules state that a match must be played right out it was thought inadvisable to continue, three days already having been spent in the contest. This match will thus in no way affect Manawatu’s retention of the Cup. Bad weather also prevented a contest a few weeks ago with Rangitikei, which team remained in Palmerston North for several days.
