“Though modern clothes are so pretty and so adaptable, it seems to me to be a great mistake to be a slave to fashion,” says Annie Croft, the musical comedy star now appearing at the Grand Opera House. “A woman should find a personality in dress and know which type it is that suits her without its looking studied. The great generality of women are at their best when dressed in a truly feminine style, with soft materials and soft shades and colours, rather than mannish clothes and Eton crops, which only suit very decided types. For dressy occasions I think georgette is such a pleasant, fluttering, wistful fabric. It is so clinging and suitable for so many ages, aven for old ladies.”
