FIRE IN BEAM STATION
■■■" - VALUABLE EQUIPMENT IN DANGER (Australian Press Association.) (Rec. December 28, 11.45 p.m.) Melbourne, December 28. A fire occurred at the beam wireless station to-day at about 3 o’clock and threatened to destroy the whole establishment, together with £30,000 worth of equipment. The beam station is situated south-west of Ballarat, eight piles from Ballan. The fire had been turning for an hour and a half when he brigade arrived from Ballarat, 28 piles distant. Officials removed the expensive •a Ives, but were powerless to fight the ta. Details are meagre.
