FRENCH FINANCIAL SCANDAL

ASSUMING CONSIDERABLE PROPORTIONS FURTHER ARRESTS MADE (Australian Press Association.) (Rec. December 28, 11.15 p.m.) Paris, December 28. Developments continue in the “Gazette du France” case. Thus far two suicides are attributed to losses sustained. Seven arrests have been made of persons allegedly implicated. Two are at liberty provisionally. The latest arrest is that of Georges Anquetil, founder and director of “Larumeur,” a financial journal affiliated with the “Gazette du France,” on a charge of swindling and breach of trust. Altogether the affair is assuming considerable proportions. It will even possibly affect the composition of the Cabinet, through the connection of M. Dumay, Minister of Agriculture, with the “Quotidien,” which leased financial publicity to Madame Hanau’s concerns.
