The Minister of Heal th ( ®>n. A-£• Stallworthy) returned to Wellington from Auckland yesterday. Mr. E. T, Whitt, of Brisbane, formerlv of New Plymouth, has arrived in Auckland to spend a holiday in Ne Zealand. / Archdeacon H. A. Hawkins, of Auckland, returned by the Maui Pomare from Norfolk Island on Christmas Day. He visited the island in connection with the Melanesian Mission endowment lands.

The Hon. E. S. Marks, member for North Sydney in the New South Wales Legislative Council, is visiting New Zealand.

Dr. J. H. Crashaw, district health officer at Dunedin, is visiting Auckland.

Sir John McaFrland, Chancellor of the Melbourne University, arrived at Bluff by the Manuka last week-end. Members of the Police Force gathered at the Mount Cook station recently to bid farewell to. Senior-Sergenat T. Ryan, who is to retire at the end of this month. On behalf of the force Superintendent Emerson presented Mr. Ryan with a well-filled wallet. Inspector Rawle and Sub-Inspector Lander spoke of the excellent record of the retiring senior-sergeant. Mr. J. Johnston has been transferred from the Bank of New South Wales in Wellington to the Kawa Kawa branch.

A Press Association cable message states that Mr. Verschaffelt and Mr. A D. Park are passengers by the Makura. which left Sydney yesterday for Wellington.

Mr. H. Hayward returned to Auckland by the Ulimaroa after a visit td Australia.
