The death occurred at his late residence at Lower Hutt on Wednesday, of Mr. George Peck. Deceased arrived in 'Wellington in the sailing ship Douglas in March, 1873, and after doing pioneer work thr ugh; New Zealand as a young man, settled in Wellington. For 37 years he was a member of the staff of the Magistrate’s Court, retiring from that position 15 years ago. He was one of the foundation members of the Masterton Oddfellows lodge, and in' his early days took a keen interest iu public affairs. He leaves a widow,' one son and three daughters. Mr. G. L.
