REVIVAL AT BROOME (Rec. December 27, 9.50 p.m.) Perth, December 27. The pearling industry at Broome shows revival, compared with last year’s. A hundred luggers were licensed during the year, and the quantity of shell raised was 820 tons, worth, at £lBO a ton, £147,600. Most of the shell was shipped to New York. One pearl was sold for £lO,OOO. The number of divers employed was 168, mostly Japanese, eight of whom perished during the year in the course of the diving operations.
