DELEGATION TO SAMOA

RETURN OF MEMBERS

The Secretary of the Department of External Affairs, Mr. C. A. Berendsen, who returned to New Zealand from Samoa by the Tofua, arrived at Wellington yesterday. At the instance of the Administrator of Western Samoa, Colonel S. S. Allen, Mr. Berendsen, in association with the Public Service Commissioner, Mr. P. Y'ersehaffelt, and the Assistant-Secretary of the Treasury, Mr. A. D. Park, inquired into the finance and staffing of the Samoan Civil Service. Messrs. Verschaffielt and Park, who are returning via Sydney, are due home on Monday. It is expected that, resulting from the visit, certain recommendations will be made to the Government.
