PETONE GALA
Numerous side-shows and brilliant lighting, which can be seen from the Hutt Road, are features of the gala, wliieh was held yesterday’ on I’etone beach. Chief of attractions are the merry-go-round and the chair-o-plane which form part of Staig’s Amusement Enterprise, wliieh has been brought from Hamilton. Tlie varied side-shows, which also help to make an enjoyable outing, include darts, novelty poker, cycle race games, shies and skittles, besides a novel game in whicli one must put a hoop fairly over the neck of q duck revolving in a tub of water, if one is to gain the victor's box of chocolates. Special transport facilities have been provided for the duration of tlie carnival, which lasts until January 2.
