TOCH CAMP

A FORTNIGHT IN THE SOUNDS.

A large party of boys from orphanages and secondary schools, and rovers and senior members of the Wellington branch of Toe H left yesterday by the Tamahine for the Sounds, where they will camp for a fortnight. Tents will be pitched at Oyster Bay, where an acre of land has been presented to Toe H by Mr. Heberley, one of the local residents. Although no permanent buildings have yet been erected on the site, it is confidently anticipated that the growth of tlje movement will make it' possible to use the ground as a permanent camping place for members of Toe H. In the meantime tents and marquees have been secured from the Defence Department, and cooking appliances have been hired.

Last year between 20 aud 30 boys went jnto camp, and this year the total number will be about 40. The cost of sending each boy to camp is about £4, and in several cases the required amount has been provided by outside organisations. Mr. B. Malyon, chairman of the Wellington branch of the Toe H. School Activities Department, will be in charge of the camp, and Dr. F. W. Kemp, of Upper Hutt, will act as medical officer. Dr. F. Bowerbank, another member of the local Toe H executive, will also attend the camp.
