OBITUARY
By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, December 26. Mr. Samuel Ernest McCarthy, solicitor; formerly, a Stipendiary Magistrate, died this evening. The late Mr. McCarthy had been in vigorous health until quite recently, when he became ill and entered a private hospital for an operation. He had been a Magistrate at Clyde, Invercargill, Napier, Wellington and Christchurch, retiring from the Bench on pension four years
