POLICE ATTACKED

MAN SHOT DEAD IN SCUFFLE

Melbourne, December 26.

Constables Brown and McCulloch arrested two men under the influence of liquor at a dance hall. The men resisted violently and twenty other dancers came to their assistance. The policemen were thrown to the ground and savagely kicked. Brown’s baton was wrenched from him, and he drew his revolver. The men again rushed him, and during the struggle the gun exploded and William Kraesst was shot dead and another man wounded.
