TO-DAY’S WEATHER FORECAST.

Meteorological Office, Wellington, December 26, 4 p.m. An anti-cyclone has advanced on to the South Island from the southern Tasman Sea. Pressure has continued relatively low in the northern portion of the North Island on account of the cyclone which is still covering the northern Tasman. Easterly winds, veering to southerly, north of New Plymouth and Napier; elsewhere south to south-easterly, moderate to strong generally, and with gale force at places from Cook Strait northwards. Seas heavy on the East Coast north of Akaroa; elsewhere rather rough to rough in New Zealand waters. Strong east to South-east winds to gales in the eastern Tasman Sea with rough seas. Weather fair to fine in Westland and Otago. Elsewhere cloudy, unsettled, and squally with further showers generally, and some heavy falls In the East Coast districts north of Kaikoura and in the Auckland province. Cold temperatures.
