ROADING AT WADESTOWN

CITY COUNCIL’S ACTIVITIES. At last night’s meeting of the Wadestown Progressive Association, a letter was received from the City Engineer’s Department, which stated that a complete engineering investigation into the improvement of Wadestown Rond was being considered. As a result, action regarding the construction and paving of the footpath to that access had been held up. However, steps were being taken to improve the approach to Wadestown Rond, and it was proposed to set back the. fences, and widen the two corners leading from Park Street into Grant Road. When this has been done, the whole of this intersection will be paved, and . the paving extended along Grant Road, and round the bad corner at the intersection of Grant and Wadestown Roads. This corner will also be re-shaped and improved. It was decided to write to the council referring to recent conversations with

the Mayor, and pointing out that the association understands that it is the intention of the city council to proceed with the permanent surfacing of the Main Road, and the construction of the footpath, and. to urge that the work be commenced immediately.

Two lights will be installed in Sefton Street, one in Lower Weld Street, and one in the Main Road, where the exist-

ing lamp will lie shifted 20. yards east. It was not considered advisable to shift the tramway lamp, but the trees will be cut and a new lamp erected to light the steps — Urmer Weld Street.
