MARSDEN SCHOOL

ANNUAL PRIZE-GIVING The annual prize-giving at Marsden School, Karori, was held yesterday and took place on the tennis courts, where a small platform was erected and chairs placed for the visitors, who were numerous, including many fathers us well as mothers of pupils. Bishop Sprott presided and Mrs. Sprott presented the prizes. Mrs. Crompton Smith, who is in charge of the school boarding establishment, spoke briefly of the work of the school and thanked the staff and the prefects of the school for the work they had done during .Miss Baber's absence. Bishop Sprott thanked the staff on behalf of the trustees of the school for their work, especially Miss Mayhew (acting principal) and Mrs. Crompton Smith, who had been carrying on during Miss Baber’s absence. He also said that the trustees intended to pusii on with the building of the Assembly Hall and he hoped it would be finished during the first term of next year. At any rate, it would be ready for next year's prizegiving. After the prizes had been distributed by Mrs. Sprott, the girls sang a number of chorus songs. The prize list was as follows:—
