A good tij> for ironing a tablecloth is to place the cloth under the ironing-sheet when commencing to iron; by the time the other ironing is completed it will be found that the tablecloth is practically finished and requires only very little ironing around the edges. If tomatoes, when sliced for frying, are sprinkled slightly with vinegar they will keep whole in the pan.

When brick paths get green and dangerously slippery in wet weather, sprinkle .two or three handfuls of salt over them. Allow to remain on an hour, then scrub down with brush or stiff broom. To cure sore feet, soak in hot water, then bathe with hot vinegar for about ten minutes and massage dry. To mend small holes in plastering, use one part plaster of Paris and three parts fine sand. Mix with cold water and apply with a case-knife. Instead of the usual bull’s-eye patch on a boy's trousers, put the patch the full length ; it will then look like a seam in the material.
