Caught one Anzac Day by a returned soldier and named Anzac, a hare belonging to the Waitara Coursing Club has enjoyed a remarkable number of victories over numerous fleet greyhounds (reports the "Taranaki News”). The hare is undoubtedly one of the strongest and fastest ever used by a coursing club, and came through the Waterloo Cup meeting on the Waitara Club's course at Brixton recently scatheless, although it had .several “dose shaves.” Anzac, the tricky manner in which he continually eludes his pursuers, has made himself a great favourite with coursing enthusiasts, and his best victories are fittingly celebrated by his many admirers. . Curious differences of opinion seem to exist as to the real object of testing cows (remarks an exchange). For instance, at the recent meeting of suppliers some of those present stated that they tested to “find the worst cows. Just what the difference is was not quite clear, but it was admitted that “even if you found which were the worst cows vou couldn't get rid of them on a year s performance.” It was even argued by one supplier that he did no culling and, in reply to a question as to how that was, lie stated that the various troubles which nowadays afflicted dairy cows did all the culling that was necessary.
