WELLINGTON SHOW ASSOCIATION

EXECUTIVE MEETING GOOD PROGRESS REPORTED z The executive of the Wellington Show Association met last night, Mr. R. 11. Nimmo presiding. The catering committee reported that they had received two tenders for the use of the dance floor, and recommended that that of the Columbian Cabaret be accepted subject to conditions to be drawn up by the manager. The finance committee recommended that in view of the fact that Amusements, Ltd., had been formed for the purpose of promoting “dodg-ems” as an attraction for the association’s shows, they be given the exclusive right to run “dodgems” for a period of-five years, at the end of which time the Show Association- to have the right of purchase of the “dodgems” and plant at valuation. In the event of Amusements, Ltd., providing any other form of amusement at the instigation of or with the approval of the Show Association, the same conditions as before mentioned to apply to such further amusement devices, and in the event of any member of Amusements, Ltd., desiring to sell his shares, that the Show Association are to have the first option of purchasing such-shares. After general discussion this was approved. Arrangements have been made for all stock to be in position for judging by Friday, September 21, at 9 a.m. The sale of stud stock is to take place on September 25 and fat stock on September 27 at 2 p.m. The manager reported that the Hutchinson Road fence was proceeding satisfactorily, and that there was every indication that it would be completed well up to time; that the work on the building was also proceeding satisfactorily, and would be in readiness to allocate exhibitors their space on Monday next. “It is appropriate,” his report continued, “that the first use of the show basement is to hold a sale of Jersey cattle imported from America, which will take place on Saturday next.”
