Meeting To-day’s Requirements

After many months of planning, J. C Williamson Films will open their latest theatre, the Kilbirnie Kinema, tonight. This magnificent building is said to be. the finest suburban theatre in the Dominion, and embodies all the latest improvements in theatre construction. Designed on classic lines, and providing seating accommodation for over 1200 patrons, it bears favourable comparison with the leading kinema houses of the cities. Steam heated throughout, patrons are assured of a comfortable theatre even in the coldest weather, while a modern system of ventilation ensures an ample supply of fresh air at all season?.

New Zealand’s Leading Suburban Theatre

The world's search to-day is for entertainment. The hours of labour have become so filled with restless activity, the battle of life has become so intense, that the

hours of recreation are precious indeed. To-day the world and his wife demand that the hours of recreation shall be spent so

that the utmost in enjoyment shall be derived from them. To meet that need in the growing Eastern Suburbs, one of the finest suburban theatres, the Kilbirnie Kinema has arisen. It

represents the latest in motion picture theatres. When the kinema theatre was conceived, seating accommodation was the first thought, so much so that to-day the art of this branch of theatrical organisation has arisen to a position of paramount importance, and\ has been developed to a high degree of efficiency. The seats in the dress circle and lounge at the Kilbirnie Kinema have been specially created from the original lounge section of the “Regents”

in Australia and New Zealand. Constructed in the Dominion by New Zealand workmen, they afford the most comfortable seat-

ing accommodation available. Nor have the seats in the sta’l:' been neglected; here the chairs have also been designed to give the maximum of comfort. Upholstered in brown leather, they

are attractive and comfortable, and provide ample space. Located within a few yards ol the Kilbirnie . Post Office, the

theatre is conveniently situate: for all residing in the Eastern Suburbs, and is but a few steps from all the tram services of the district. The Kilbirnie Kinema is a thea-

tre designed to meet all the immediate and future needs of the district, and in' which it is intended to exhibit pictures only of the highest standard. Situated right in the heart of a district which is growing every day, this theatre should supply a’long-felt want.

A change of programme three times weekly will enable patrons to view all the latest and best that Hollywood and the Engish producers have to offer in surroundings which lack nothing in comfort. These programmes will consist of double features and special attractions culled from the world’s film markets.

rence, and Swan, architects, J. T. Julian and Son Ltd., builders, Carara Ceiling Co., interior fibrous plaster decoration, Francis Holmes and Co. Ltd., “Rok” roofing, Messrs. Tonks and Andrews, sand and gravel, and Luke Bros. Ltd., structural steel.
