GRIME LOSES TO MAYS REFEREE’S DECISION NOT ENTIRELY POPULAR A THRILLING BATTLE (Australiau Press Association.) (Rec. July .’.O, 7.5 p.m.) New York, July 9. Tn a ten-rounds bout Mays gained a decision over Grime, after one of the most thrilling fights ever witnessed at the Velodrome, Hartford. Mays ability to locate Grime’s jaw and stomach at the opportune moment turned the referee s decision in his favour, but the decision. was not entirely popular. Mays wti»hed pounds, and the Australian Grime had slightly the better of things bv the cud of the third round, having made his opponent miss many times, and having scored some stinging rights. However, he was not completely at home against Mays’ left-hand style, and the latter landed a series of hard lefts to the Ja Grimo had tho better of the fourth round.
