The above tables show a decrease of 149,662. boxes of butter and 7150 crates of cheese for the month, compared with May. 1928. Of the butter shipped to the United Kingdom during May, the position at time of shipments was that 70.23 per cent, was consigned, and 29,.77 per cent, sold f.o.b. Of the cheese at the time of shipment 53.20 per cent, was cont, signed and 46.80 per cent, sold f.o.b. ' Australian and Argentine Shipments. The shipments from Australia during May- were 175.000 boxes of butter and 161 tons of cheese, compared with 43,880 boxes of butter and 258 tons of cheese during May. 1927. From the Argentine there was exported during May 23,500 boxes of butter, a decrease of 11,678 boxes ■compared with May. 1927. During the five months of this year to May 31, the total imports of butter into Britain from all sources were 2,674,147 cwt, compared with 2,377,545 cwt., and ‘ 2,577,079 cwt. respectively, for the same periods of 1927 and 1926. The imports -of-eheese during the respective fivemonthly periods were 1,289,132 cwt., 1,178;833cwt., and 1,202,421 cwt. Position of Stocks.
