‘FATHER AND SON BANQUET.” An interesting and enjoyable function was held in the Vivian Street Baptist Church Hall, 55 men being present at a “father and son banquet.” The chairman was Mr. M. A. Tremewan, leader of the Vivian Street Y.M.B.C. and president of the Inter-Bible Class Council. Mr. 1a J Greenberg, secretary of the Y.M.C.A. and also secretary of the Inter-Bible Class Council, was the guest of the bvening. An excellent programme of toasts and items ■ had been arranged and all present enjoyed it to the full. The first toast was that of “The King,” which was followed by the singing of .the National Anthem. The chairman then proposed the toast of the “guest of the evening.’ 1 In his speech he pointed out that Mr. Greenberg had been a great mover in the reformation of the Inter-Bible Class Council and that now all the youth movements of the city had joined. The goal ot’ the council was one great federation of youth which would be an unalloyed benefit to New Zealand. Mr. Greenberg, replying, said he was pleased -to do anything to help on the Bible class movement. Mr, V. F. Francis proposed the toast of “the Baptist Bible Class movement.,” referring to the growth of the movement, which had had a small beginning. Jlr. G. Scott, president .of the District Baptist Bible Class Union, replied. The other toasts honoured were as follows: —“Kindred Bible Class Movements,” proposed by Mr. G. H. Ivory and replied to by Jlr. Jlaunder, president of the Methodist Bible class movement; Mr. R. Parker proposed the toast of “the Church,” and the Rev. F. E. Harry replied; the toast of “Our Leader” was proposed by Mr. J. R. Barker, Supported by G. H. Ivory and V. F. Francis, Mr. Tremewan. replying; (lie toast of the “Vivian Street Bible Class” was proposed by Mr. T. Wilson, senr., and Mr. P. L. Wilson replied; Jlr. G. Bennett proposed the toast of “Our Fathers” and Mr. G. Dawson replied; Jlr. G. Jackman proposed the toast of “The Sons” and Mr.. R. Lovatt replied: tlie toast of “Our Mothers” was proposed by Mr. 11. IL Akers and Sir. E. Fossette replied. A bountiful supper was provided by the ladles of the church. The proceedings concluded with the singing of “Auld Lang Syne” and the pronouncement of the benediction. '
