After a thrilling race at Lo Mans, France, a British Bentley automobile, driven by Captain Barnato and Rubin, two English amateurs, won the 24 hours race over the Sarthe circuit, defeating French, Italian and United States competitors and breaking the world's record ■r the distance covered in 24 hours on i ini road. The distance completed was 2669 kilometres, the previous record being 24J4 kilometres. Although the race was continued through the night and a morning fog the speed averaged, including halts to change drivers and refill tanks, was 604 miles per hour. Bentley finished about GO miles ahead of 'the next competitor. Last year the race was also won by a Bentley, car. driven by Benajarield and Davis.
