RADIUM POISONING
HOPELESSLY AFFECTED FACTORY GIRLS
RESULT OF PAINTING WATCH DIALS
New York, May 15,
The Statute of Limitations will apparently prevent five New Jersey factory girls who are dying of radium poisoning from making further progress in their suits against the United States Radium Corporation. The malady these five contracted between 1917 and 1920, each painting 250 watch dials daily, wetting the brushes between the lips between strokes. Last year the first symptoms of poisoning appeared, but the Statute of Limitations provides that only two years may elapse between an injury and the claims for compensation. Before a decision was rendered today, several physicians testified that nothing could be done for the sufferers. as their bones are so badly eaten that they cannot live another year. Three have married since their factory days, and have children,
