FEATHERSTON DOMAIN

PROGRAMME DRAWN UP.

Featherston, May 11

Matters concerning the development of the Wairarapa Lake domain ■were discussed at a meeting in Featherston last night of the newlyconstiuted Domain Board, when it was decided to proceed immediately in tlie direction of providing proper road access to the property and of planting trees.

The Hou. A. D. McLeod wrote advising that the lessee of the domain had been notified that his present lease would not be renewed after May 1, but the board could offer a further lease, the .Triplications to be by public tender. The board had authority to allow temporary camping on the domain with tents or other similar nonpermanent structures, but the aim should always be to prevent the erection of permanent structures. About £350 was standing to the credit of the domain, and this would be available for carrying out improvements. The secretary was instructed to write the Hon. A. D. McLeod thanking him for his personal interest in the matter and for acting so promptly in setting up a board.
