SAPIRO’S PLANS

FOR ORGANISING FARMERS STATEMENT IN LIBEL ACTION Detroit, March 18. The suit for libel brought by Aaron Sapiro, a well-known Jewish lawyer, against Henry Ford, the motor manu--1 facturer, claiming a million dollars damages, was continued. Amplifying his statements as to the operations of Sapiro, Senator Reed declared that Sapiro planned extending those operations to Australia. Mr. Reed said: “We shall show that at Minneapolis the plaintiff said that they were going to organise not only the wheat growers of the United States, but also of Canada, Australia, and Argentina. We shall show, that at the very time the Idaho wheat growers had failed and the California tomato growers were failing, Sapiro had wrecked both.” Mr. Reed alleged that Sapiro had collected nearly 300,000 dollars for the organisation and counsel fees from eight out of over a hundred farmers’ co-opera-tive marketing associations organised under the so-called “Sapiro Plan.”
