INFECTIOUS DISEASES
DIPHTHERIA STILL PREVALENT Forty-six cases of infectious diseases were reported to the district health authorities for the week ended at noon vesterdav, this being one case less than the total number reported for the previous seven days. The Wairarapa-East Cape district supplied more notifications than any other, there being seventeen cases, including ten of diphtheria, which still seems to be prevalent. Following are details of the infectious diseases reported in the various hospital districts, the figures for the previous seven days being given in parentheses :— Taranaki-Horowbenua: Scarlet lever, 2 (5) ; diphtheria, 5 (6) ; tuberculosis, 1 (1) ; pneumonia, 1 (2) ; puerperal fever, 1 (1); erysipelas, 0 (1); enteric fever, 0 (1) ; total, 10 (17). Wairarapa-East Cape: Scarlet fever, 1 (3); diphtheria, 10 (4) : enteric fever, 3 (5) ; tuberculosis, 1 (1) ; pneumonia, 1 (2) ; puerperal fever, 1 (0) ; total, 17 (15). Central Wellington.—Scarlet fever, 10 (7): diphtheria, 2 (3) ( tuberculosis, 1 (2) ; pneumonia, 1 (0) ; lethargic encephalitis, 1 (0) ; puerperal fever, 1 (3) ; total, 16 (15).
