THE ROSE APPEAL
STREET COLLECTION TO-DAY Citizens of Wellington throughout today will have an opportunity of materially assisting the fund which lias been promoted for the purpose of sending R. A. Rose, of Masterton, the distance champion and record-breaker, Home. to meet Paavo Nurmi and other leading distance champions. The appeal in Wellington takes the form of a. street collection and sale of souvenir badges. Stalls will be stationed at various parts of the citv, and that at the Bank of New Zealand will be conducted by the popular ?hil .Smith Revue Company The badges, which have been neatlv executed, consist of a silver leaf, with the title “Rose” inscribed, and. an outline of the champion in sprinting attitude in one of the corners. The funds ure urgently needed to make the tour certain, and a good response by Weilingtonians to-dav will do much to place the issue beyond doubt. To-morrow. a similar effort will be launched in de Wairarapc.
