DYESTUFFS INDUSTRY

BRITISH CORPORATION GOVERNMENT’S' INTEREST TO LAPSE London, November 15, Subject to the shareholders agreeing to a scheme of reconstiuction of the concern, the British Government’s interest in the British Dyestuffs Corporation will shortly lapse. The corporation was formed in war time to manufacture dyestuffs, replacing the lost German supplies. The Government subscribed £1,700,000, and exercised a degree of control. The notice issued to-day convening a general meeting states that the original restrictions seriou sly militate against the successful conduct of the corporation’s affairs. The Government has offered to sacrifice its shares for £600,000, and withdraw its restrictions, except for stipulations ensuring that the corporation shall remain predominantly British, and keep in touch with the Government as regards technical information and research.—Aus.-N.Z.
