FAIPULES’ TRIBUTE

TO LATE SON OF ADMINISTRATOR. A great tribute was paid by the Samoan Fainules to their Administrator, General G. W. Richardson, yesterday afternoon, when they went out to the cemetery to place a beautiful wreath upon the grave of Vernon ,$. Richardson, the late son of General Richardson. The sincerity and simplicity of the ceremony was felt by all present.. The wreath was laid in great solemnity by Faipule Toelupe. Among those present were Mr. H. S. Griffin (Secretary of the Native Affairs Department, Samoa), Mr. J. D. Gray (Under-Secretary of the External Affairs Department), and Messrs. IT. D. Grocott and E. M. Ryan (of the Y.M.C.A.). Prior to going to the cemetery, a short meeting was held in the boys’ department of the Y.M.C. A., on the walls of which is a handsome memoriam tablet in memory of Vernon S. Richardson, at which several speakers made reference to the excellent qualities in that life which was so early And suddenly cut; off.
