The Queensland Betting Tax Bill has reached the Committee stage in the Legislative Assembly. The proposed taxation is expected to yield £43.000 per annum. Ihe Bill provides thai betting shall be illegal except on racecourses.
Dr. Levinstein, chairman of the Manchester Society of Chemical Industry, in a speech said the exhibition of British chemical science at the Empire Exhibition would enhance the prestige of the trade throughout the world and would create a most favourable atmosphere amongst overseas buyers. It would reveal the advance made in Britain’s chemistry since 1914, specially in organic chemistry.
