PROTECT AGAINST DELAY IN i NEW SOUTH WALES. Sydney, October 6 Mr J Ley, Minister of Justice, addressed the Nationalist Conference in vindication of his action in including a provision for a referenduin to bo taken in 1928 in the Liquor Bill at present before Parliament. The conference disagreed with the provision, and passed a. resolution that the referendum should be held in 1924. . The Conference also resolved in favour of tho abolition of proportional representation, and of the substitution of a preferential system based on threo State members for a constituency corresponding to one Federal constituency.—Press Assn.
