AGAINST SUNDAY PLAY
—« DECISION OF ALBURY BOWLING CLUB Sydney, October 6. The Albury (N.S.W.) Bowling Club has decided against Sunday play. Supporters of Sunday games contended that they would increase the membership and that the quiet character of the game would not offend the religious susceptibilities of the community. The opposition was led by a vice-presi-dent, who declared that he would be obliged to consider whether he could continue membership if it were adopted. Sunday playing would be a vicious example to the community, if influential townsmen and the fathers of families made the serious departure of ignoring the religious aspect of the Sabbath. Other speakers contended that many members would be compelled to resign if the club took action which would offend their religious scruples. In face of the strong opposition the supporters withdrew their motion. —Press Assn.
