PROTECTION FROM BUSINESS MUDDLEMENT.
z (To the Editor). Sir, —I have read with interest the letters appearing in Tub Dominion by Mr. Martin and Mr. A. D. McLeod, M.P. Of course one could see by Mr. Martin’s letter ho was in some business, opposed to anything in the shape of a movement bv the dairy farmers to get all they earn. But in some respects he is right in his remarks, for most farmers are not good business men, as no doubt ho knows well. With all respect to Mr. McLeod I think he makes a mistake. The dairy farmers and producers do not need the Bill for protection from themselves, but from the men whom they put in the position to look after their interest. Mr. Massey, good man that he is, will see that the Bill gets through. He knows well what unbusinesslike measures are done with the producers stuff, and the shareholders of most companies need protection from the gambling and throwing away of their hard-earned money. It is, as everyone knows, the easiest thing in the world to waste and squander other people’s money, and then when the position has become hopeless the Government must step in and help out the muddlers. How thankful all must be if this Bill gets through, for one has not far to go to see and hear the results of bad business men’s management, and the loss and waste of shareholders’ money. The dairy farm- ' ers, to my mind, are in greater need of control than the sheepfarmers. Mr. Massey will, I am sure, have the blessing of z all right thinking dairy farmers and thank their lucky stars they are not seeking help from a Labour Government. —I am, etc., • FAIR PLAY.
