INVERCARGILL SITTING. BY TELEGBxrn.—PRESS ASSOCIATION. Invercargill, August 21. The criminal sessions of .the Supreme Court opened to-day before Mr. Justice Sim. Renata Sherman appeared for sentence on three charges of opening postal packets. Accused, a girl of eighteen, applied for a position as postmistress, and was sent to learn the duties for four .days at Nightcaps, where she opened letters. She was admitted to twelve months probation. Walter John Gower was found not guilty on a charge of incest. . Wilson Hodges, charge! with the theft of £9B Ils. 9d., the property of the Provident Life Assurance Company, was admitted to four years probation, and ordered to refund the money. , , ... John C. Collins, charged with causing actual bodily harm, was released on probation for three years. G. W. B. Dickson, for breaking and enterting a store, was similarly dealt with.
