SWIMMING
RACE ACROSS PARIS. (Rec. August 20, 7.40 p.m.) Paris, August 19. David Billington won the annual swim across Paris, seven and a half miles, in 3hr. 3min. Costamalito, an Italian, was second. Twenty-six competed, including six women.—Aus.N.Z. Cable Assn. [Prior to 1922 Billington had won this event seventeen times. Last year, however, he broke the sequence, being beaten by a ninoteen-year-old French girl for fourth place. An itauan, Taschler, won, and Burgess, the Channel swimmer, was tenth.l
