MAGISTRATE’S COURT
POLICE AND MAINTENANCE CASES. Police and maintenance cases in the Magistrate’s Court yesterday were dealt with by Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M. Patrick Joseph McGrath, a second offender for drunkenness, was fined 205., in default three days’ imprisonment. On charges of drunkenness, being idle and disorderly, and wilfully damaging a utensil in a police cell, Cecilia Parkinson was remanded to appear this morning. MAINTENANCE CASES. Patrick Joseph McGrath was ordered to pay ss. per week towards the support of each of his three children. An order for a similar amount was made against Frances Maud Robertson, in respect of the support of each of her two children. Ashley Bruce was sentenced to one month’s imprisonment in default of payment of arrears amounting to £l5 Is.' Id. Harold Frank Julian was sentenced to three months’ imprisonment, tho warrant to bo suspended so long as £3 10s. per week is paid in reduction of arrears amounting to £27 35., in respect of the maintenance of his. five children. .A similar term of imprisonment was imposed, the warrant to bo suspended so long as £2 10s. per week is paid off the arrears totalling £4l, in respect of his wife’s support. Frank Reade, whose arrears amounted to £l6, was sentenced to two months’ imprisonment, the warrant to be suspended so long as £1 10s. per week is paid. An order for maintenance, separation and guardianship, on the ground of persistent cruelty, was granted Mary Elizabeth Balcombe, against her husband. Ralph Balcombe, who did not defend the application. He was ordered to nav £3 weekly. Henry Robert Smith was ordered to, pay 30s. per week towards the sup-' port of,his wife.
